October 2

It has been a month since I have posted anything here.
We have been in school for almost a month. It seems as if all are settling down. It has been fairly smooth at school with no major problems.
There are some students who are having a difficult time with absences. This is a huge problem for all involved. Students miss class and get behind. Students do not want to make up work or are unable to make up work. Students lose. Who wins from this behavior? No one. And parents, why is this acceptable?
My mother would have killed me for skipping school. She did for many months and finally got caught. She paid a price for that. But nowadays students have to have a high school education to get any kind of job. Streets are rough, drugs are prevalent, video games absorb the spirit of some. Why?
I am not going to complain what was, because, it solves nothing. However, adults have to become more involved in all aspects of young people's lives. Why? So each can learn. If you cannot spend time, meaningful time, with your young person, you need to seriously reevaluate your lives. Everyone needs money to live but we do not need everything in the world.
At this end, I will stop for today.

Dentist and school

Did I ever tell you that I hate the dentist????? Well I do! I think they must enjoy causing pain. Why would anyone do that job? Must be for the money.
In addition to my new filling, I have discovered today that I have a fracture on my back tooth. YEAH! What can I say===another reason to visit the dentist.
Two days done for the new school year. A lot of students are going to give me a run for the money. I think with the new rules in place, everything will be ok. I hope that my harder edged students will learn ok.
Why would I put these two subjects together? Just a thought.
I think some of my neighbors are biggots disguised as do-gooders. They have close minds and do not want to listen for change. These people are close in age to me. I can't understand why they think the way that they do?

A New Day

I am planning my classes for the new year. I am going to have independent students and I hope these students will have a great work ethic. In the first few days of class, I am going to place this information so carefully into the brains of these students.
I am a little nervous this year with all the changes. I hope that I don't disappoint the powers that be. I am also hoping this year will be a healthy one.
Since mom died, I have not felt like myself. I feel like I continue to disappoint everyone. I feel tired and down every day. What can I do?
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Karl's death. So, I am going to start anew. I have continued to be in mourning for 20 years of my 21 year marriage. I have pushed others away from me and become almost hermit like. This is no way to live. I think that keeping the journal can only help me view what has happened and what can be done in the future.

"Blackness beyond Conception"

I heard this statement during a Discovery show about the astronaut's walk on the moon in 1969. There is something about this quote that has stuck with me. I think maybe it can be a title for a journal or book. I have always wanted to write a book and now with this technology--maybe I can. We will see as my mother always said.
Now it is time to start dinner!
